About me

My name is Abi Tutill and I have been working as an upholsterer for 13 years. I started out working for a marquee hire company where I manufactured yurts and other bespoke canvas and wood structures. I have produced tents of varying descriptions for camp sites, film sets, private residents and commercial enterprises.

Covering a wooden structure in canvas is not too dissimilar to covering a chair so I guess it was a natural career progression. My love for textiles and interior design fuel my interest.

Upholstery started evolving as a career for me after participating in an evening class. I became hooked and realised my natural ability. Several terms of evening classes later, I had run out of my own furniture to work on so started doing stuff for friends. Soon word spread as more people saw my work and friends of friends were calling up offering me commissions. My business has organically grown from there.

I love my job. Every chair unveils a new challenge which keeps things interesting. Meeting new clients and guiding them though the design process of potential shapes and fabric choice, and ultimately creating a bespoke piece of art for their home is very rewarding.
